Water-transfer helmet decal with SA Sturmabteilung runes. Soak in water for about one minute, slide it from the backing paper onto the helmet and let it dry. For added protection, a clear brush-on coating may be applied, but it is not mandatory.

Water-transfer helmet decal representing the SA runes, the emblem associated with the Sturmabteilung, a German paramilitary organization active during the Third Reich period. This type of helmet insignia is linked to SA units and personnel equipped with helmets for service, guard, training or ceremonial functions.
The Sturmabteilung, commonly known by the abbreviation SA, played a significant role in the early phase of the National Socialist movement and retained its own organizational structure even after its political and military importance was progressively reduced. SA insignia included specific organizational symbols, among them the stylized runes used as identifying elements on badges, uniforms and equipment.
The SA runes helmet decal differs from the standard military decals of the Heer, Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine or Polizei, as it belongs to the symbolism of a paramilitary organization rather than a regular branch of the armed forces. Applied to a helmet, it indicated association or affiliation with the Sturmabteilung according to the configurations used during the period.
This decal is intended for application on German helmets compatible with SA configurations, including civilian, paramilitary or military helmet types reused according to context. As with other helmet decals of the period, its use formed part of the visual identification system adopted by different organizations, corps and formations.
Water-transfer decals consist of a thin printed film applied to a paper backing. Before application, the decal should be immersed in water for about one minute, allowing the printed film to separate from the backing paper. The decorated layer is then carefully slid onto the helmet surface, aligned correctly and left to dry completely.
Once dry, the decal adheres to the helmet surface. To improve durability and protect the decoration from handling, dust or light rubbing, a thin clear protective coating may be applied with a brush. This step is optional, but it can help preserve the finish over time.
