The Ordnungspolizei, abbreviated Orpo, were the uniformed police force in Nazi Germany between 1936 and 1945.
The insignia of the mountain rescue service police were probably introduced around 1942 in World War II. The background to this was the swearing in of the mountain rescuers as auxiliary police officers after the beginning of the war. Towards the end of the war in 1944, the mountain rescue service was even subordinated to military units.
Particular variant of the badge, which was more commonly enclosed in an enameled shield. This version is instead without the shield.
