More info

This Model 1933 SA Dagger was developed as a special project within our factory, using higher-grade materials and a more substantial construction than standard production pieces.

Only two prototype examples were manufactured. The model will not enter regular production: once these two existing pieces are gone, there will be no further production and no future restock.

Each dagger is therefore one of only two examples produced during this specific experimental phase of our manufacturing work.

The design follows the historic SA-Dienstdolch Model 1933, officially introduced on 15 December 1933 as the service dagger of the Sturmabteilung. Its design was developed in Solingen by Paul Woenne and drew heavily on Renaissance German and Swiss dagger forms, particularly the type generally known as the Holbein dagger.

One of the defining features of this prototype is its genuine wooden grip. The wood is shaped into the distinctive narrow-waisted profile associated with the SA dagger and finished in the characteristic brown tone traditionally associated with the original pattern.

Set directly into the wooden grip are the two principal devices: the circular SA insignia near the upper section and the metal eagle positioned centrally.

The grip is completed by substantial metal fittings, including the characteristic curved lower crossguard and upper fitting, held together through the central assembly and pommel nut. Their polished surfaces create the traditional contrast between light metal and dark brown wood.

The scabbard is built around a metal body, finished in brown and completed by bright metal throat and lower fittings. The upper fitting incorporates the traditional suspension ring.

The blade is made from steel, with the straight profile and symmetrical point characteristic of the Model 1933 design. One face carries the historic SA motto:

“Alles für Deutschland”

engraved in the characteristic Gothic lettering.

The reverse carries the RZM M7/42 marking. Historically, M7/42 was the code allocated to W.K.C. – Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie of Solingen-Wald, one of the major German manufacturers of edged weapons.

W.K.C. was formally established in 1883 through the combination of two long-established Solingen manufacturing families and became an important producer of swords, sabres, bayonets and daggers.

The RZM marking also reflects the later production system used for political edged weapons. Early SA daggers of 1933–1935 were generally identified by the traditional commercial trademarks of their manufacturers. During the following years, production came increasingly under the control of the Reichszeugmeisterei, with RZM numerical codes becoming the principal means of manufacturer identification.

For this prototype, the combination of a real wooden grip, steel blade, metal scabbard and polished metal fittingswas deliberately selected to create a substantially different object in terms of weight, feel and construction from simpler mass-produced versions.

Both examples were assembled and finished individually as a two-piece experimental factory run. Minor differences resulting from the finishing process are part of the character of these prototypes rather than features of a large serial production.

Its most important characteristic is therefore its origin as a true factory prototype: only two examples exist from this production run. Once these two pieces are sold, the project will be closed permanently and the dagger will not be manufactured or restocked again.
