Water-transfer helmet decal for helmets of the Guardia Nazionale Repubblicana GNR. Soak in water for about one minute, slide it from the backing paper onto the helmet and let it dry. For added protection, a clear brush-on coating may be applied, but it is not mandatory.

Water-transfer helmet decal representing the insignia of the Guardia Nazionale Repubblicana, commonly known by the abbreviation GNR. The GNR was a military and police formation of the Italian Social Republic, established after the armistice of 8 September 1943 and active until 1945.
The Guardia Nazionale Repubblicana was formed through the merger and reorganization of elements from the Milizia Volontaria per la Sicurezza Nazionale, the Carabinieri and other security and territorial control structures. Its duties included military service, internal security, public order, territorial control and support for the authorities of the RSI.
The GNR helmet insignia belongs to the symbolism adopted by Italian republican formations between 1943 and 1945. Applied to Italian M33 helmets, it identified membership in the Guardia Nazionale Repubblicana and formed part of the wider system of insignia, badges and markings used by the armed and militarized forces of the Italian Social Republic.
Water-transfer decals consist of a thin printed film applied to a paper backing. Before application, the decal should be immersed in water for about one minute, allowing the printed film to separate from the backing paper. The decorated layer is then carefully slid onto the helmet surface, aligned correctly and left to dry completely.
Once dry, the decal adheres to the helmet surface. To improve durability and protect the decoration from handling, dust or light rubbing, a thin clear protective coating may be applied with a brush. This step is optional, but it can help preserve the finish over time.
