Polyester flag of the Regency of Carnaro, faithfully reproducing the official historical flag adopted by Gabriele D’Annunzio’s government in Fiume. It features the Ouroboros and the Star of Carnaro displayed on the Italian tricolour.

The Regency of Carnaro Flag reproduces the official state flag adopted by the Italian Regency of Carnaro, proclaimed by Gabriele D’Annunzio in Fiume on 8 September 1920 during the events of the Fiume Expedition.
Its central emblem is the Ouroboros, the ancient serpent biting its own tail, symbolising eternity, continuity and renewal. Enclosed within the circle is the Star of Carnaro, the official emblem of the Regency. The entire composition is displayed on the Italian tricolour, reflecting the state’s declared connection with Italy.
The Regency of Carnaro became one of the most original political experiments of post-First World War Europe. Its constitutional document, the Charter of Carnaro, drafted primarily by Alceste De Ambris and later revised by D’Annunzio, combined republican, corporative and democratic concepts while giving an unprecedented constitutional role to art and music.
The Regency came to an end in December 1920 following the Treaty of Rapallo and the military intervention of the Kingdom of Italy during the events known as Bloody Christmas.
This version is manufactured from polyester fabric and faithfully reproduces the colours, proportions and symbolism of the original historical flag. The printed design accurately depicts the Ouroboros, the Star of Carnaro and the remaining graphic elements in accordance with surviving historical references.
The flag remains one of the best-known symbols of the Fiume Expedition, while the Charter of Carnaro continues to be studied by historians and constitutional scholars as one of the most original constitutional experiments of twentieth-century Europe.
