Round unit badge attributed to the 12th Alpini Company of the “Intra” Battalion, a formation linked to the long tradition of the “Intra” Alpini battalion, created in 1909 from the earlier “Pallanza” battalion. The central device depicts Monte Corchia, enclosed within an inner circle, while the outer border carries the dialect motto “Pais Feila Veudi,”rendered in the available source as “Boys, show them!” Above the composition rises the distinctive black Alpini featherwith tassel, one of the clearest visual symbols of the Italian mountain infantry.

From a historical perspective, the “Intra” Battalion was one of the best-known Alpini battalions, with roots reaching back to the early twentieth century and a service history spanning major phases of Italian military history. Sources concerning the unit also place it in the Apuan Alps during the closing phase of the Second World War, which explains the symbolic relevance of Monte Corchia in the badge design. For that reason, this insignia should be read not merely as a company emblem, but as a compact representation of unit identityoperational landscape, and Alpini esprit de corps

A lesser-known detail is that “Intra” was not a purely ceremonial name, but the name of the town on Lake Maggiorethat historically housed the battalion. Its barracks were specifically built between 1909 and 1911, underlining the strong territorial identity of the unit from its earliest years. This gives the badge added interest for collectors seeking pieces that combine military symbolismlocal heritage, and the history of the Alpini.
