Magazine Loading Tool – Luger P08 (Ladehilfe)
This small metal tool, known in German as Ladehilfe für Pistole 08, was designed to assist with loading the magazines of the Luger P08 pistol.
The Pistole 08, commonly referred to as the Luger P08, was one of the most famous service pistols used by German forces during the first half of the twentieth century. Designed by Georg Luger, it was adopted by the German military in the early 1900s and remained in service during the Second World War.
The Ladehilfe was specifically designed to depress the magazine follower, compressing the internal spring and making it easier to insert the 9×19 mm Parabellum cartridges into the magazine.
Typically manufactured from hardened steel, the tool features a simple but practical design allowing the user to press down the magazine follower tab during the loading process.
Although primarily intended as a magazine loading aid, the tool could also be used during certain maintenance procedures involving the magazine, which is why some modern references occasionally describe it as a disassembly tool.
Produced by various German military equipment manufacturers, loading tools of this type were often issued together with the pistol or stored inside the P08 holster as part of the soldier’s sidearm equipment.
