More info

On German tunics of the Second World War, the belt was not only a visual part of the uniform. It carried ammunition pouches, bayonet, holster, canteen and other field equipment. To prevent this weight from pulling the tunic down or resting entirely on the waist, many jackets were fitted with internal belt support hooks. These hooks passed through small side openings in the tunic and provided a firm support point for the equipment belt.

This aluminium reproduction is intended for WH/SS German tunics, depending on the specific tunic model and configuration. When a uniform is displayed with full field equipment, these hooks are especially useful because they keep the belt at the correct height and help the whole setup look more natural, stable and historically consistent.

From a technical point of view, belt hooks are small but important components. They are inserted inside the tunic and project through the dedicated openings, allowing the belt to rest on them without changing the outer appearance of the jacket too much. Aluminium keeps the pieces light while still offering the strength needed to support the belt and attached equipment.

For collectors, reenactors and uniform displays, these hooks are the kind of detail that often separates a basic setup from a correctly assembled one. Without them, a belt can sit too low or pull awkwardly on the tunic, especially when loaded with equipment. With the hooks fitted, the uniform gains the correct structure and a more authentic wartime appearance.

Curiosity: the small side holes found on many German tunics are often overlooked. They were designed specifically for belt hooks, showing how even minor uniform details were engineered to support the practical weight of field equipment.
